Here’s a letter from Wylie Vracin, he knows mussels and has participated in Mussel Fest for years!  Thank you Wylie!

March 16, 2016

Dear Coupeville Historic Waterfront Assoc,

What a GRAND festival…even on Soggy Sunday. The mussel raft tour boats sailed with happy passengers who ALL remarked about how much they learned…and how “AFFORDABLE” it was. All the chowder sites served BOTH days with great service and yummy chowder. And boy did the mussels get EATEN! It seems almost at every turn some chap was hauling a cooler or wheelbarrow loaded with “the world’s finest”. A Canadian chef-friend won the mussel-eating crown for the second time in three years. WOWZERZ!

In fact, he serves only Penn Cove Shellfish mussels now at his Vancouver Island fish camp lodge where he is the widely recognized chef. And I have eaten his DEE-LICIOUS food.

No wonder he loves to eat our local mussels!

A truly great festival, everyone. And a hearty WELL DONE to all the worker-bees.

See you ext year! And do NOT miss “The Mingle”…and the mussel cooking demonstrations 🙂
