It’s going to be ANOTHER GREAT WATER FESTIVAL!
Performances – Main Stage:

Thanks to a grant from Swil Kanim’s Honorworks Foundation and anonymous donors, the Penn Cove Water Festival will feature the following performances in downtown Coupeville during the Water Festival:

11:00am – Festival Welcome – Main Stage

11:30am – Drum demo by Lou Labombard – Main Stage

11:40am – Rosie James – Oral History – Main Stage

12:00 – Festival Welcome – Canoe Launch (Mayor Nancy Conard & Penn Cove Water Festival President Lisa Haas)

1:15pm - The Shifty Sailors, Sea Shanties and Maritime Music – Main Stage

2:00pm - Swil Kanim - Main Stage – Native violin player & storyteller

3:00pm – Rosie James – Oral History – Block House

4:00pm – Tshimshain Haayuuk Dancers – Main Stage – Traditional and ceremonial dances involving you, the audience

The Bead Man, Russell Morton, will be displaying his Four Seasons of Water, a beading project he’s completed after 6 years of beading.

In-between performers, we’ll hear updates about the canoe races, festival history, the art show, and opportunities to purchase CD’s and meet the many talented musicians that are a part of this festival!

Coupeville Photo History Book Signing will ALSO be at the Rec Hall during the Mussel Mingle
“Coupeville” a book of photographic history spanning 1850-1950, written by Judy Lynn and Kay Foss will be released for the Mussel Festival, Friday March 2. The books will be for sale in the Recreation Hall Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, and the authors will be on hand for signing. All proceeds benefit the Island County Historical Society Museum. On Tuesday, March 13, 2:00 p.m. at the Coupeville Library Judy and Kay will show photographs, answer questions, and sign books. Judy Lynn, a long-time resident of Coupeville, has a passion for local history. Many of her oral interview subjects shared photographs from their private collections for this book. Kay Foss, a retired Coupeville secondary school teacher, brought her many skills in writing and social studies to this project.

Save the Date! At the Coupeville Library on March 13^th at 2:00 Judy Lynn and Kay Foss, authors of Coupeville, will share photos and stories revealing some solved and unsolved mysteries.

The newly released Coupeville is a photographic history of the town and area from 1850 to 1950.

The authors will share some photographs that weren’t included in the book, answer questions, and sign books. Books will be for sale and all proceeds benefit the Island County Historical Society Museum.

If you can’t make this event, the book will be available for purchase at the Mussel Fest, March 3 and 4, at the museum, and area book stores and shops. I hope you will spread the word.

People come from miles around to sample mussel chowder in our chowder contest, try their talents in the mussel eating contests (LOOK OUT!), take boat tours of the Penn Cove Shellfish Farms, delight in our shops and art studios, dance the afternoon and night away in our Beer Garden, some enter the Cookin’ in the Kettle Mountain Bike Race (to work off the yummy food), or go through the art studio tour! Generally a good time is had by all during the Musselfest Coupeville!

& Friday night March 2nd ~ the Mussel Mingle kicks off the festival in the Rec Hall! Come mingle with local characters, visitors, Mussel growers, Mussel cookers, support the Island County Museum and our continued tradition of a fun end of winter event!

The tree is up, Coupe’s Corner Park is lit, the snow people are parading about and the RED TICKET DRAWING is in full swing! It’s Christmas is historic Coupeville.

Chuck Poust and Paul Whelan - officers of the Coupeville Historic Waterfront Association - bundled up for decorating Coupeville's Christmas Tree! Set up in front of the Island County Historic Society's Museum on Alexnder, the tree is big enough to require special equipment to decorate! Good JOB Chuck and Paul! HO HO HO
